Origins - Much like the Werewolves of the world, Vampires have existed for as long as humans have, their true origins shrouded in mystery. Unlike the Werewolf Alpha's, those old enough to remember the beginning have gone mad or refuse to speak of such events. Yet despite such horrific beginnings, the legend of Hominus Nocturna has circulated through every culture in the world since breath could carry it from town to town.
Weaknesses - Even those at the top of the food chain possess a weakness or three. While Vampires are immensely powerful, they have an Achilles heel that is glaringly obvious and almost one hundred percent fatal to all young vampires. As the legends state, a stake through the heart does the trick wonderfully, as well as severing the head from the body and separating them. A strong inferno can also be used to kill a vampire, even one considered to be a master or elder. Holy objects are unending agony for vampires as the presence of them is like dipping their bodies slowly into a vat of acid. Finally, they cannot access a building that is privately owned by one soul without invitation from the deed owner, the only true safety humans have against such a beast.
Strengths - Even at their youngest a Vampire is physically stronger than most of the supernatural community. Unless a wolf is in his true form, a vampire retains the advantage of strength and speed over them. In a newborn's prime they hold the strength of a hundred men and gain that of two more every year they live as such. When moving a vampire can seemingly vanish from one point and appear in another as if he is simply teleporting. Their senses are also heightened beyond that of humans, able to smell blood from a block or two away and able to hear the faintest of whispers from quite a distance. Vampires are also capable of lowering their voice to the point that only a wolf or another vampire can pick up on the sound. A Vampire is also capable of seeing in low light conditions, mostly picking up on the heat signatures of the blood in their prey. Yet another deadly weapon in the vampire's arsenal is the power to compel other beings to do as they wish through simple suggestion.
*Older vampires have shown the ability to walk in direct sunlight. Master Vampires can walk in light while suffering weakened abilities, the same as Elders.
Aging Effects - As a Vampire ages their power increases, most notably at certain benchmarks. Essentially the longer a vampire lives the more potent their blood becomes, yet due to the nature of their kind many do not make it beyond fledgling status.
*Master Vampire - A vampire who has reached the approximate age of 300 years old. At this point a vampire will see a significant increase in strength as well as gain the ability to walk in direct sunlight. It's at this point they move beyond the control of Necromancy and become slightly resistant to holy objects.
*Elder Vampire - An Elder Vampire is easy to pick out of the pack by far. They exude an aura of command that is unmistakable to their kind, much like an alpha though less literal. Like a master vampire they can withstand the burning effects of the sun, become moderately resistant to holy objects, making them take longer to harm them the way they would a fledgling.
*Ancient Vampire - Those that manage to survive for a couple thousand years are unmatched by all vampires and require an alpha wolf to keep them in check. At this point they are resistant to the sun's damaging rays and the diminishing effect upon their powers. Wooden stakes that are not pushed into the heart merely slow them down and holy objects almost require touch to hold much sway over them. Only a good fire, decapitation and a wood stake through the heart can put them down for good yet no one has truly tested the stake.
Covens - Vampire Covens are divided among three very large area's rather than covering multiple smaller zones. The three large covens are simply known by the regions they govern; The American Coven, The European Coven and the Asian Coven. Yet there are four covens known to the supernatural community, the fourth being so "lovingly" referred to as the "Cult of Dagon" whom is a deity like symbol to them that no vampire truly believes ever even existed.
