The Fae
The Fae are a mythical race that many think are extinct but, in fact, have been around as long as the Humans. Originally they were created by each of the founding Gods and are the origins of the myths of Angels and demons because they have magic in their blood. It is believed that they eventually disappeared from the historical record. It was believed that when people spoke of them they were romanticizing the past or that they were mentally simple in some way. This was not the case, however. They simply slipped beyond the view of those who remembered them and allowed themselves to be forgotten by all but humans. This was to eventually work to their benefit, as all fae are tricksters no matter what their alignment and they don't see the harm in a joke or bargain at another's expense. The fae had felt pushed out of their homes with the ever-popular use of iron in human dwellings and so they allowed themselves to be forgotten save for some trite overblown repressed images favored by women in the Victorian Era. This was amusing to the fae who are among some of the least sexually repressed creatures on the planet. Fae are comfortable in their bodies regardless of how they look. While they may be vain their sense of beauty is very different than the normal human aesthetic.
All Fae show one common trait that makes them stand out among humankind. When they are young they have full albino coloring. Their eyes are red from hiding in caves and in places where there is little light and their skin is easily burned by the sun. As they age they regain the melanin they lack. This is in order to protect their young from harm. Most fae can only be told apart while in their transformed state or by their actions. Because they all share the same species features it is impossible to tell good fae from evil and this works to their benefit.
While most fae will work towards their own individual goals and interact with humans easily they will band together regardless of alignment if one of their kind is threatened. This mentality can be deadly to those they get the drop on so it is always wise to approach them with trepidation and respect because even good fae do not have the same moral codes as humans or other races. Their mindset is completely different and so it takes a long time to comprehend them.
They have been known to become infatuated with other races from time to time but this isn't always healthy for either party.
Abilities
The abilities of the fae are as varied and diverse as they themselves are. While some may not seem to be powerful all are warriors in some form or another. Those that have lived a long time only more so than their younger kin. The world is a dangerous place and they know it.
There are four basic abilities every fae get upon creation and they may receive one other gift upon advancement that is dependent on their subspecies of fae.
• Immortality
• Transformation into alternate form
• Aura of power when in their natural form.
