Angels and Demons
Among the first creations of the gods, angels and demons have walked the Earth before the rise of humanity. Contrary to Biblical beliefs, both are the servants of the gods of Light and the Gods of Darkness. Created before humankind, and existing alongside them after the banishment of the Primordials, both creatures have since existed to either further, or slow the progression of humanity.
Angels
The Angels, as graceful and powerful agents of the Gods of Light, have watched over humanity for years, existing in various forms throughout culture. Cupids, Valkyries, Seraphim, and Archangels; all exist under the particular service of one of the three gods of Light. While Angels have near-infinite power in the heavenly realms, on Earth their powers are massively limited and are even capable of dying if their heart is ripped from their mortal form. They do not need to possess a human body to move around on Earth, but the human forms they appear as on Earth are merely the closest thing the human mind can perceive of their true forms on Earth.
Created in different, various Heavenly Realms, realities of pure perfection by the very definition, many angels were created to spread various virtues across the world and beyond, such as Love, Hope, Courage, Strength, Perseverance and other traits of virtue. They ensure the balance of Light throughout the various cosmos, and battle evil where they find it. They are the voices that whisper to “Have Faith” when it seems like things have no hope. They’re the ones that watch over grieving families when a loved one dies, helping them to move on from within the Light of day.
powers:
- Flight: With the power of their wings, angels are able to soar above the skies, and travel at great speeds.
- Supernatural Sensory: The senses of an angel are tuned far above the efficiency of most humans. Angels can see traces of supernatural beings, unaided. They can see through most common spells, can see ghosts, can smell something from another dimension, hear ghostly whispers, or even taste the touch of evil in the air.
- Superhuman Physiology:Angels are physically stronger and faster than the most fit human. Capable of lifting a small building, and most at the speed of a comet, they’re far more intimidating than they usually appear.
- Holy Fire: An incredible offensive/defensive ability unique only to angels and nephilims. This power can burn evil beings, and heal good beings. Though the angel using the ability can also injure others with this power, how it is used is solely to the discretion of the angel using it.
- Enochian: Although considered a dead language in the human tongue, it is used for angelic spellcasting for angels and those with angel blood.
Weaknesses:
While on earth, an angel is vulnerable to death if their heart is ripped from their body. Another means of killing an angel is through demonic weaponry and demonic magic to the heart. It is also possible to render an angel mortal by ripping off their wings to the bone, rendering them human. Should their wings then be destroyed, they shall forevermore be mortal and live out the rest of their days as a human.. Another way to render an angel human is by burning off the enochian symbols for their names, which are on the left side of each angel’s neck.
While on earth, an angel is also weak against powerful dark magics. Certain mage sygils are known to be powerful enough to contain an angel if needed, but such sygils are often known only by warlocks.
Demons
The Demons have existed alongside their angelic counterparts since the beginning. Bred in Hell Dimensions, impossibly hostile netherworlds, where demons bring souls to prey upon. They are dark creatures in service to the Dark Gods, who spread fear, hatred and sin across the world. They’re the voice of the corrupt, and the impure. It is their mission to fight against the forces of good where they are found, and to ensure that the balance is sustained. In many ways like their counterparts, demons exist in various types and forms, and there are an assortment of weak to powerful demons, the weakest being Possesser Demon, the Mid-Level Demons being Title Demons (Demons that normally carry a title) and the strongest being the Demon Lords, beings that are given power over Hell Dimensions by the Dark Gods, themselves.
Powers:
- Flight: Similar to the manner in which angels travel
- Supernatural Senses: Similar to angels
- Superhuman Physiology: Similar to angels.
- Hellfire: This otherworldly fire burns with an intensity equal to napalm, and on stronger, magical beings can burn their very souls. Demons often use this to collect the souls of the damned, who have made pacts with their kind. Demon Lords can also teleport in-between realms with Hellfire.
- Demonic Magic: The opposite to Enochian, demonic magic was the unnatural and unholy knowledge, first bestowed to the Demon Lords by their Dark Gods and passed to the rest of demon kind. Like Angelic Magic, this magic often manifests into a single power, such as the use of fireballs, or use of the Purge.
Weaknesses
In many ways, demons are much like their angelic brethren, as they are often weaker in their human forms. Weaker demons, such as Possesser Demons, must take over a human host in order to walk the Earth in corporeal form however, demons such as Demon Lords do not need to possess a human to walk the Earth, but many often take human form if they must walk in public, so as to avoid exposure and disrupting the Balance. Possesser demons can be exorcised back to their Hell Dimensions, however higher tier demons must be decapitated, or struck with a powerful angelic weapon, or a weapon of the Light Gods. Should a demon’s wings be ripped off, then they are rendered human, and like an angel, if their wings are destroyed, then they have no chance of becoming a demon again. Often, these ex-demons tend to become incredibly violent and psychopathic members to society.
